TYPES OF FUNCTIONS
The architect must maximize the volume of the building using the limited area and materials. The building is three-dimentions, so the people in this career consider the cubic function's rate of change to create the best plan of buildings.
The anesthesiologist must observe the concentration of an anesthetic in the blood during the surgery. This consentration can be represented by the rational function. The reason why the people in this career need to know its rate of change because although narcotic drug is useful to lay patients down, it is toxic for our bodies actually.
The meteorologist must expect the weather and temperature in next day based on the past data. The temperature changes in a year can be represented by the sine and cosine functions. Therefore, the people in this career consider the trigonometric function's rates of change to anticipate the weather condition of the next day.
The economist observes the rate of change of their countries' GDP to estimate how the countries grow in the world. Furthermore, they find the society's growth rate to look for the improvements to create strong nations. The GDP rate can be signified by the exponential and logarithmic function's rates of change. They need to know it because they have a obligation to research the strong and weak points of the country's economy.
